sombr American Airlines Center Concert reviews
Great story...lacking in talent
As a treat, I sprung for 4th row seats to see the live production, having loved sombr since the movie premiered. The opening number, with the amazing parade of animals to Pride Rock and the colorful costumes, was the best of the show - it was phenomenal. I was really looking forward to seeing the live production. The highlight of the evening, I would learn, would be that. In my opinion, one of the most powerful songs, "Be Prepared", was sung with such little enthusiasm that I felt as though the actor was bored or irritated that he had to perform. The performance department had two shining lights - the young Simba and Pumbaa, while the others were lackluster at best. The fact that I love the story and the amazing costumes / puppetry saved this review from being 2 stars.
